For more than 25 years, Chance for Children has been strengthening street children and their families in Ghana by providing them with a chance to build a better future…

For over 25 years, Chance for Children has been empowering street children in Ghana to have bright futures!

Increasingly, children leave home to earn an income on the street resulting in them dropping out of school and facing abuse. Our work ensures that street children are safe and have access to education and healthcare. We reach children across 8 cities and work to reunite them with their families, support their education, and strengthen their family members and communities. Thousands of these children are now thriving adult citizens and professionals who uplift others.

We strengthen youth, families and communities to achieve self-sustainability by partnering with local leaders, non-profits, and businesses, while promoting responsibility and diversity.

Over 90+ Staff impact over 4,500 street children, their families and communities across eight locations yearly

Children are constantly on the move in Ghana Their number is rapidly increasing

The number of children leaving home and migrating for work is rising rapidly in Ghana. Children are on the move. Migration routes often lead these children to urban centers where they suffer abuse and interrupted education on the street.

Street children face unsafe conditions, including child labour and exploitation. Along the coasts of Takoradi, Accra, Cape Coast, Tema and along the Volta Lake through Dambai and Ho, children engage in risky activities including deep sea fishing at night or even engaging in sex work.

To address these pressing needs, we continue to be present in the areas where these children are relocating.

Through our integrated approach, we strengthen families and communities to be self-sustaining

Every day, we are present where the street children are. They have often lost trust in life and people because they have been hurt. We rebuilt their trust, so they are ready for change. We listen to them, build on their strengths and together find individual solutions.

Our Resource Centres and Hebron Homes prepare children for reunification with family members and for returning to school. We prepare youth for professional training in companies and work closely with their trainers to enable them to have a fulfilling profession and be self-sufficient.

We work with families and communities to become self-reliant and provide safe, stable environments for children to thrive. We operate across 8 locations and adapt our work to local contexts and cultures.
