Farmerline launched in 2013, with operations serving 400 farmers across Ghana – and a massive ambition to change a whole sector. Our impact and growth has been exponential, year on year, thanks to our partners. But, there’s much more to come.
There are tens of millions of smallholder farmers in West Africa. We haven’t met them all – yet. But we can say, with certainty, that every single one of them wants to build lasting wealth for their families and communities.
Put simply, they want to make more food for the future and more money.
Market smart farming
We train farmers via face-to-face workshops and keep them informed about markets, regulations and standards via regular voice alerts and helpline support, so they know what crops are in demand and the quality assurances buyers need.
Our tech platform gives smallholders ongoing learning content, including daily weather forecasts, direct voice messages, and an active helpline to call for any questions. This means they’re constantly guided to farm for the best yields and maximum profits. Meanwhile, our mobile app helps dealers to record and manage sales with ease and accuracy.
Douglas Adjei, a vegetable farmer in Gyinase, in the Asante Region of Ghana, attends training workshops with his local Farmerline field agent and gets regular market information on his android mobile, in his own language. He’s changed how he plans what to plant for each season and is delighted to see his profits have doubled in just two years.
